Takhrij Hadith 1043: "I witnessed Uhud along with…"

I witnessed Uhud along with the Messenger of Allah peace be upon him. When the people dispersed away from him, my mother and I drew close to him, defending him. He asked: The son of Umm Umarah? I replied: Yes. He said: Throw! So I threw a stone at a man from among the polytheists who was on a horse, striking the horse's eye. The horse became frantic and fell, throwing him and his companion off. I began pelt him with stones until I overcame him and he retreated. The Prophet peace be upon him was looking on and smiling. He then noticed a wound on my mother's shoulder and said: Your mother! Your mother! Bandage her wound. May Allah bless you ,members of the household! The position of your mother is better than the position of so-and-so. May Allah have mercy on you, members of the household! And the position of your stepfather—meaning the husband of his mother—is better than the position of so-and-so. May Allah have mercy on you, members of the household! She said: Supplicate to Allah that we may accompany you in Paradise. Thereupon he said: O Allah, make them my companions in Paradise. She then said: Now, I do not care what befalls me in this world.
