A woman came to the Prophet ﷺ seeking legal retribution against her husband because he had slapped her. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said 'There shall be retribution. Then Allah Almighty revealed 'Men are the caretakers of women because of that which Allah has excelled some of them over others. So she returned without retribution.
