Takhrij Hadith 1254: "Al-Zubayr married me when he…"

Al-Zubayr married me when he possessed nothing on earth of wealth, a servant, or any property except a water-drawing camel and his horse. I used to feed his horse, draw water, mend his water-skin, and knead the dough, although I was not skilled at baking bread. My female neighbors from the Ansar used to bake for me, and they were truthful and righteous women. I also used to carry date stones on my head from the land that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had granted to Al-Zubayr, which was about two-thirds of a farsakh from my home. One day, while I was carrying date stones on my head, I met the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with a group of the Ansar. He called me over and then said: "Ikh, ikh" to make his camel kneel so that I could ride behind him. But I felt too shy to travel with the men, and I remembered Al-Zubayr and his protective jealousy, for he was the most jealous of men. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ realized that I was too shy, so he went on his way. When I returned to Al-Zubayr, I said: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ met me while I was carrying date stones on my head, and he was with a group of his Companions. He made his camel kneel so that I could ride, but I felt too shy, and I knew how protective you are." He said: "By Allah, your carrying the date stones was harder for me to bear than your riding with him." Later, Abu Bakr sent me a servant to take over the care of the horse, and it was as though he had set me free."
