he heard a man insulting another man loudly and Abu Darda said : i heard the prophet peace be upon him said : Obscenity is ignobility and an evil trait.
There are three whose prayer do not rise more than a hand span above their heads: A man who leads people (in prayer) when they do not like him; a woman who has spent the night with her husband angry with her; and two brothers who have severed contact with one another.
Umaimah bint Raqiqah came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to pledge allegiance to him upon Islam. He said: “I take your pledge of allegiance on the condition that you will neither associate anything with Allah, nor steal, nor fornicate, nor kill your children, nor bring forth a slander that you falsely fabricate between your hands and your feet, nor wail, nor display yourself as women did in the days of pre-Islamic ignorance.
I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, set your condition for me, for you know best regarding it.' He said: 'I accept your pledge of allegiance upon [the condition] that you worship Allah and associate nothing with Him, that you establish the prayer, give the Zakat, offer sincere counsel to the Muslim, and disavow yourself from Shirk (polytheist).
Attend the invitation when you are invited.
I asked: 'O Messenger of Allah, what of our wives is permissible for us to approach and what should we avoid?' He replied: 'Approach your tilth (wife) however you wish, and feed her when you feed yourself, and clothe her when you clothe yourself, and do not revile her face, and do not strike her.
He set out until he came to the Prophet ﷺ and stayed with him until the Prophet ﷺ came to recognize him. When I was about to depart, I said to myself: 'By Allah, I will surely go back to the Prophet ﷺ to increase my knowledge.' So I walked back until I stood before him and said: 'What do you command me to do?' He said: 'O Harmalah, do what is right and avoid what is wrong.' Then I returned to my mount, but then I went back and stood near him again and asked: 'O Messenger of Allah, what do you command me to do?' He replied: 'O Harmalah, do what is right and avoid what is wrong. And consider what you would love for your ears to hear people saying about you after you leave them, then do it; and consider what you would hate for your ears to hear people saying about you after you leave them, then avoid it.' When I returned, I reflected on this and realized that these two [commands] left nothing out.
I was with Ibn ‘Abbas when a man came and sat beside him. Ibn ‘Abbas asked, 'Where have you come from?' The man replied, 'I have just drunk from Zamzam.' Ibn ‘Abbas asked, 'Did you drink from it as it ought to be drunk?' The man asked, 'And how is that, O Ibn ‘Abbas?' He replied, 'Face the Qiblah, say Bismillah (In the name of Allah), and drink. Breathe [between sips] three times, and when you have finished, praise Allah. And drink until you are filled; for indeed, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "The sign [of distinction] between us and the hypocrites is that they do not drink their fill of Zamzam.
The signs of a hypocrite are three, even if he fasts, prays, and claims that he is a Muslim.
O Messenger of Allah, tell me of a deed that will admit me into Paradise.' He said: 'Believe in Allah, speak good and it will be recorded for you, and do not speak evil or it will be recorded against you.' Mu’adh asked: 'Will we truly be held accountable for what we say?' The Prophet ﷺ replied: 'Is there anything that throws people on their noses into the Hellfire except the harvests of their tongues?'
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to command us to guard our private parts and our tongues, and he said : “for these two will lead you in [to Hellfire], but they will not bring you out.
Seek refuge with Allah from covetousness that leads to disgrace, from covetousness that leads to no [attainable] object of desire, and from covetousness where there is no [rightful] place for it .
