Takhrij Hadith 1311: ""O Messenger of Allah, what…"
On the authority of 'Ubadah ibn al-Samit (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: While we were standing with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, a man came forward and said:
“
"O Messenger of Allah, what is the lifespan of hope for your nation?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ remained silent, until the man asked him three times. Then, as the man turned to leave, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him: "You have asked me about something no one in my nation has ever asked me before. The duration of hope for my nation is one hundred years." The man asked: "O Messenger of Allah, is there a sign, indication, or mark for that?" He replied: "Yes: swallowing up by the earth, hurling of stones, earthquakes, and the release of bridled devils upon the people."”
