Takhrij Hadith 1316: "Both Abu Bakr al-Siddiq, may…"
It is narrated that:
“
Both Abu Bakr al-Siddiq, may Allah be pleased with him, and ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, came forward to propose to Umm Kulthum bint ‘Uqbah, may Allah be pleased with her, but she did not feel inclined toward either of them. She would say: “O Allah, grant me a man whom I will love and who will love me”. So she married al-Zubayr ibn al-‘Awwam.”
