Takhrij Hadith 1392: ""O Allah, grant me life…"

"O Allah, grant me life as a poor person, cause me to die as a poor person, and resurrect me in the company of the poor on the Day of Resurrection." 'Aisha asked: "Why, O Messenger of Allah?" He replied: "Indeed, they will enter Paradise forty autumns before their wealthy counterparts. O 'Aisha, do not turn away a poor person empty-handed, even if it is with only half a date. O 'Aisha, love the poor and draw them near to you; for indeed, Allah will draw you near [to Him] on the Day of Resurrection."
