Takhrij Hadith 1615: "When the pain of the…"
It was narrated from Ibn Abbas, who said :
“
When the pain of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) became severe, he said: Bring me writing materials so that I may write for you a document after which you will not go astray. Umar said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has been overcome by pain, and we have the Book of Allah; it is sufficient for us. Then they differed, and the voices and discussion increased. He said: Leave me, for disputing should not take place in my presence. Ibn Abbas went out saying: Indeed, the greatest calamity was what prevented the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) from writing his document.”
