Takhrij Hadith 1738: "Thursday! And what a Thursday…"
It was narrated from Ibn Abbas that he said:
“
Thursday! And what a Thursday it was! The pain of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) became severe, and he said: Bring me something so that I may write for you a document after which you will never go astray. Then they disputed, although dispute is not befitting in the presence of a Prophet. They said: What is the matter with him? Has his illness overwhelmed him? Ask him to clarify. They began speaking back to him, so he said: Leave me, for the state I am in is better than what you are calling me to. He then instructed them with three things. He said: Expel the polytheists from the Arabian Peninsula, and give delegations gifts similar to what I used to give them. The narrator said: He remained silent concerning the third—or he said: I forgot it.”
