Takhrij Hadith 1781: "The Messenger of Allah (peace…"

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)used to attend the gatherings of the polytheists along with them. He said: "Then he heard two angels behind him, one of them saying to his companion: 'Let us go, so that we may stand behind the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).' The other said: 'How can we stand behind him, when only recently he was touching the idols?'" He said: "So after that, he never again attended the gatherings of the polytheists with them."
