Takhrij Hadith 2029: "I remember seeing myself with…"
Al-Zubayr ibn al-ʿAwwam (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated:
“
I remember seeing myself with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) on the Day of Uhud, when fear had become intense upon us and sleep overcame us. There was none among us whose chin was not resting on his chest. By Allah, I could hear, as though in a dream, the words of Muʿattib ibn Qushayr: {If we had any say in the matter, we would not have been killed here.} I remembered these words, and Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, revealed concerning this: {Then after distress, He sent down upon you security [in the form of] drowsiness…} until His saying: {We would not have been killed here.} referring to the words of Muʿattib ibn Qushayr. Then He said: {Say, “Even if you had been in your homes…} until He said: {And Allah knows best what is ˹hidden˺ in the heart.}”
