Takhrij Hadith 2075: "We were sitting on a…"
ʿUlaym reported:
“
We were sitting on a rooftop with a man from among the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) . Yazīd said: “I believe he was ʿAbas al-Ghifārī.” At that time, people were fleeing from the plague. ʿAbas said three times: “O plague, take me!” ʿUlaym said to him: “Why do you say this? Did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) not say: ‘Let none of you wish for death, for when he dies, his deeds come to an end, and he will not be given another chance to make amends’?” He replied: “I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: ‘Hasten towards death before six things occur: the rule of the foolish, an abundance of police, the selling of judgments, the shedding of blood being treated lightly, the severing of family ties, and a generation of people who use the Qur’an as musical instruments, appointing someone to lead them in its recitation and sing to them, even if he is the least knowledgeable of them in understanding.’””
