Takhrij Hadith 212: "Al-Harith ibn Hisham (may Allah…"

Al-Harith ibn Hisham (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: “O Messenger of Allah, how does revelation come to you?” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied: “Sometimes it comes to me like the ringing of a bell, and that is the hardest upon me. Then it leaves me after I have grasped what was said. And sometimes the angel appears to me in the form of a man and speaks to me, and I understand what he says”. ‘Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: “Indeed, I saw revelation descend upon him on an intensely cold day, and when it ceased, his forehead would be dripping with sweat”.
