Takhrij Hadith 2145: "ʿAmr ibn al-ʿĀs said: When…"

ʿAmr ibn al-ʿĀs said: When Allah, the Almighty, placed Islam in my heart, I went to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) so that he could accept my pledge of allegiance. He extended his hand towards me, but I said: "I will not pledge allegiance to you, O Messenger of Allah, until I am forgiven for my previous sins." He said: "O ʿAmr, did you not know that Hijrah wipes away the sins that came before it? O ʿAmr, did you not know that Islam wipes away the sins that came before it?"
