Takhrij Hadith 237: "A group of Jewish people…"
Ibn ‘Abbas narrated:
“
A group of Jewish people came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: 'O Abul-Qasim, tell us about thunder—what is it?' He replied: 'It is one of the angels who is entrusted with the clouds. He carries whips of fire with which he drives the clouds wherever Allah wills.' They asked: 'Then what is this sound that we hear?' He replied: 'It is his shout to the clouds, as he urges them on until they reach where they were commanded to go.' They said: 'You have spoken the truth.' They then asked: 'Tell us about what Israel forbade for himself?' He replied: 'He suffered from sciatica, and he found nothing that suited [his recovery] except the meat and milk of camels; therefore, he forbade them.' They said: 'You have spoken the truth.”
