Takhrij Hadith 306: "He intended to kill the…"
Narrated by Fadalah ibn ‘Umayr ibn ibn al-Mulawwih al-Laythi:
“
He intended to kill the Prophet ﷺ while he was circumambulating the House (the Kaaba) during the year of the Conquest. When he drew near to him, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Is this Fadalah?” He replied:“Yes, it is Fadalah, O Messenger of Allah”. The Prophet asked: “What were you whispering to yourself just now?” He replied: “Nothing; I was remembering Allah”. The Prophet ﷺ laughed and then said: “Seek forgiveness from Allah”. Then, he placed his hand upon Fadalah’s chest, and Fadalah’s heart grew completely calm. Fadalah used to say: “By Allah, he had not even lifted his hand from my chest before there was nothing in all of Allah’s creation more beloved to me than him”. Fadalah continued: “Then I returned to my family, and passed by a woman with whom I used to sit and chat. She said: “Come over and talk!” but I replied: “No”, and Fadalah broke into verse, saying: She said: “ Come over and chat” but I said: “No, Allah and Islam forbid this from you Had you seen Muhammad and his people On the day of the Conquest when the idols were being shattered, You would have seen Allah’s religion manifest among us, While darkness was covering the face of polytheism”.”
