‌ A delegation from 'Abdul-Qais came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: 'We are from this tribe of Rabi'a, and we can only reach you during the Sacred Month. So, enjoin upon us something that we may learn from you and call those we left behind to it.' He said: 'I command you with four things and forbid you from four: Faith in Allah.' He then explained it to them: 'Bearing witness that there is no god but Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah, establishing prayer, paying Zakah, and that you give me a fifth of the spoils of war that you acquire. And I forbid you from [using] gourds, green jars, pitched resin vessels, and hollowed stumps [utensils used for the preparation of alcoholic drinks].
