Takhrij Hadith 473: "While I was sitting, Jibril…"
Anas ibn Malik reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“
While I was sitting, Jibril (peace be upon him) came to me and nudged me between my shoulders. I then went to a tree in which there were two structures resembling the nests of a bird. I sat in one of them and Jibril sat in the other. Then the tree rose and ascended until it filled the horizons. I looked about, and had I wished to touch the sky, I could have touched it. Then I turned toward Jibril and saw him as though he were a humble saddle-cloth lying close to the ground. At that moment I realized how much greater his knowledge of Allah was than mine. Then a gate from among the gates of heaven was opened for me, and I beheld the greatest light. Below it was a veil adorned with pearls and rubies. Then Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, revealed to me whatever He willed to reveal.”
