Takhrij Hadith 598: "“O son of my uncle,…"
On the authority of Khadijah, may Allah be pleased with her, that she said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ :
“
“O son of my uncle, can you tell me about this companion of yours who comes to you whenever he comes?” He replied: “Yes.” She said: “Then when he comes to you, let me know.” So Jibril (Gabriel), peace be upon him, came to him as he usually did, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Khadijah: “O Khadijah, this is Jibril; he has come to me.” She said: “O son of my uncle, stand and sit on my left thigh.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood and sat on it. She asked: “Can you see him?” He replied: “Yes.” She said: “Now move and sit on my right thigh.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ moved and sat on her right thigh. She asked: “Can you see him?” He replied: “Yes.” She said: “Now move and sit in my lap.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ moved and sat in her lap. She asked: “Can you see him?” He replied: “Yes.” Then she uncovered herself and removed her head covering while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was sitting in her lap. She then asked him: “Can you see him?” He replied: “No.” She said: “O son of my uncle, be steadfast and rejoice. By Allah, he is surely an angel and not a devil.””
