Takhrij Hadith 681: "While we were sitting with…"
Tamim al-Dari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated:
“
While we were sitting with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), a camel suddenly entered upon us. It approached the Messenger of Allah as though it recognized him, placed its mouth against the ear of the Messenger of Allah, and the Messenger of Allah listened closely to it. When it finished communicating, the Messenger of Allah said: 'Send for so-and-so, the son of so-and-so'. When the man was brought, the Prophet asked him: 'Are you the owner of this camel?' He replied: 'Yes, O Messenger of Allah'. The Prophet said: 'Indeed, it is complaining about you to Allah—that you treat it harshly and burden it with more than it can bear, even though the camel has now grown old'. The Messenger of Allah then said to the owner: 'Sell it to me'. So he sold it to the Messenger of Allah. Then the Messenger of Allah said to the camel: 'Go wherever you wish, graze as you please, and do not grieve over the past'. Thereupon, the camel leaned down toward the ear of the Messenger of Allah and spoke to him in a language understood by none but the Messenger of Allah, while the Messenger of Allah kept replying: 'Ameen, Ameen, Ameen'. On the fourth time, the Messenger of Allah wept. The Companions asked him: 'O Messenger of Allah, you said Ameen three times, and you wept on the fourth. Tell us and inform us [why]'. The Prophet replied: 'The camel supplicated to Allah for me, saying: "May Allah reward you well on my behalf and on behalf of Islam, O Prophet of the Quran" so I said: "Ameen". Then it supplicated, saying: "And may Allah save your nation from the disgrace of this world and the punishment of the Hereafter" so I said: "Ameen". Then it said to me: "And may Allah conceal the faults of your nation on the Day of Resurrection just as you have shielded me" so I said: "Ameen". Then it said: "And may Allah never cause their violence to be among themselves." At that, I wept, because I know that the violence of this nation among themselves will be severe".”
