Takhrij Hadith 726: "The Buraq was brought to…"
On the authority of ‘Abdullah, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“
The Buraq was brought to me, and I mounted it. Whenever it came to a mountain, its hind legs would rise as it ascended, and whenever it descended, its forelegs would rise. We traveled through a dark, foul-smelling land, then emerged into a vast, pleasant, and fragrant land. Jibril (peace be upon him)—or so I think he said—remarked: "That is the land of the people of the Fire, and this is the land of the people of Paradise". Then I came upon a man standing, who asked: "Who is this with you, O Jibril?" He replied: "Your brother Muhammad ﷺ". He welcomed me and supplicated that Allah bless me. I asked: "Who is this, O Jibril?" He said: "Your brother ‘Isa (Jesus), the son of Mary (peace be upon him)". We continued until I heard a voice. We then came upon another man, who asked: "Who is this with you?" Jibril replied: "This is your brother Muhammad ﷺ". He welcomed me, supplicated that Allah bless me, and said: "Ask for ease for your nation". I asked: "Who is this, O Jibril?" He replied: "This is your brother Musa (Moses)". I said: "Against whom was his complaint?" He answered: "Against his Lord". I said: "Against his Lord?" He replied: "Yes, but He knew the intensity of his temperament". Then we continued until I saw something, and I asked: "What is this, O Jibril?" He replied: "This is the tree of your father Ibrahim (Abraham). Go near it". So we approached it, and he welcomed me and supplicated that Allah bless me. Then we continued until I reached Bayt al-Maqdis (Jerusalem). I tethered the mount to the ring where the Prophets used to tether their mounts. We then entered the mosque, where the Prophets whom Allah had named and those whom He had not named were gathered for me. I led them in prayer, except for these three: Ibrahim, Musa, and ‘Isa (peace be upon them).”
