Takhrij Hadith 774: ""Gather in your mosques, and…"
Maʿn ibn Yazid (or Abu Maʿn) narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“
"Gather in your mosques, and whenever a group gathers, let them inform me." He said: "We were the first people to gather, so we went to him. He came walking with us until he sat among us. One of us began speaking and said: 'All praise is due to Allah, beyond Whom no praise falls short, and beyond Whom there is no escape' and he spoke words similar to these. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ became angry and stood up, whereupon we began reproaching one another, each blaming the other. We said: 'Allah has singled us out by bringing us to him before anyone else, yet this has happened and happened.' He said: "Then we went to him and found him in the mosque of Banu So-and-so. We spoke to him, and he came walking with us until he sat in the place where he had previously sat, or somewhere near it. Then he said: 'Indeed, all praise is due to Allah. Whatever He wills, He places before it, and whatever He wills, He places behind it. Indeed, some eloquence is truly like magic.' Then he turned to us, instructed us, spoke to us, and taught us."”
