Takhrij Hadith 805: ""O Messenger of Allah, we…"

"O Messenger of Allah, we experience with the Qur'an, through you, something that we do not experience ourselves when we are alone". He replied: "Yes. I recite it inwardly (with its inner meaning), whereas you recite only its outward aspect". They asked: "O Messenger of Allah, what is the inward aspect as compared to the outward aspect?" He said: "I recite it, reflect upon it, and act according to what it contains. As for you, you recite it merely like this" and he gestured with his hand, moving it back and forth.
