Takhrij Hadith 823: "Abu ‘Ubaydah ibn al-Jarrah's father…"

Abu ‘Ubaydah ibn al-Jarrah's father repeatedly confronted Abu ‘Ubaydah on the Day of Badr, while Abu ‘Ubaydah kept avoiding him. But when al-Jarrah persisted, Abu ‘Ubaydah turned to face him and killed him. Thereupon, Allah, the Exalted, revealed concerning him, after he had killed his father: {You will not find a people who believe in Allah and the Last Day having affection for those who oppose Allah and His Messenger, even if they were their fathers, their sons...} [Qur'an 58:22]
