Takhrij Hadith 848: "I entered upon the Prophet…"
On the authority of Abu Sa'id al-Khudry, he said:
“
I entered upon the Prophet ﷺ while he was suffering from a fever. I placed my hand on him and felt the intensity of his heat through the blanket. I said: "O Messenger of Allah, how severe your illness is!" He replied: "That is how it is with us: our trials are doubled, and our reward is doubled". I asked: "O Messenger of Allah, which people are tested most severely?" He replied: "The prophets". I asked: "Then who, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "Then the righteous. One of them would be tested with poverty until he possessed nothing but a cloak, which he would wrap around himself. Indeed, one of them would rejoice in affliction just as one of you rejoices in times of ease".”
