Takhrij Hadith 877: "'Umar married a woman and…"

'Umar married a woman and found her to be gray-haired (past childbearing age). He said: "A mat in a home is better than a woman who cannot bear children. By Allah, I did not marry you out of desire. Rather, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'Marry women who are loving and fertile, for I will take pride in your great numbers before the nations on the Day of Resurrection.'"
