Takhrij Hadith 937: "During the lifetime of the…"

During the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, Abu Bakr once departed on a trading journey to Busra. Abu Bakr’s high regard for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not prevent him—out of eagerness for his share—from embarking on trade. This was because they admired the profits of trade and loved engaging in commerce. Likewise, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not prevent Abu Bakr from setting out on his trading journey, despite his love for Abu Bakr's companionship and his confidence in him, for he greatly appreciated his companionship, owing to the Messenger of Allah's ﷺ approval of trade and his admiration for it.
