On the authority of ‘Ubadah bin al-Samit (may Allah be pleased with him), who was among those who participated in Badr and one of the leaders on the Night of ‘Aqabah:
“
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, while surrounded by a group of his Companions: “Pledge your allegiance to me: that you shall not associate anything with Allah, nor steal, nor commit adultery, nor kill your children, nor bring forth a slander that you falsely fabricate between your hands and your feet, nor disobey in what is right. Whoever among you fulfills this, his reward is with Allah. Whoever commits any of these and is punished for it in this world, it will be an expiation for him. And whoever commits any of these and Allah conceals him, then his matter is with Allah: if He wills, He may forgive him, and if He wills, He may punish him.
