I was with my mother, Ra’itah bint Sufyān al-Khuzaʿiyyah, while the Prophet ﷺ was taking the pledge from the women, saying: ‘I take your pledge that you will not associate anything with Allah, nor steal, nor commit adultery, nor kill your children, nor bring forth a slander that you fabricate between your hands and your feet, nor disobey in what is right.’ She [‘Aicha] said: So they lowered their heads, and he ﷺ said to them: ‘Say: Yes, as much as you are able.’ So they began to say it, and I said it along with them, while my mother was prompting me, saying: ‘Say, my daughter: Yes, as much as you are able,’ so I would say as they said.
