It was said to Abu Jahl ‘Amr ibn Hisham:

“

How did you allow Muhammad to leave from right before your eyes on the night of the Hijrah and join his companion? Why did you not break down the door, seize him from his bed? He replied: So that the Arabs would say: ‘Amr ibn Hisham terrified the daughters of Muhammad and violated the sanctity of his house?.

”
